Teenager AYSO Player, CA
Since my daughter started working with Matthew we can see a huge change in her ball handling and strength in kicks. Every session is different when it comes to the fundamentals focus of each practice. This makes my daughter excited and keeps her motivated. Besides making practice fun and not intimidating since it’s 1-1 attention. Overall we are very happy with the improvement and confidence my daughter has earned while working with Matthew. We will continue to work with him.

I’m really grateful for everything this coach has done for me as a soccer player. He pushed me to improve my skills, mindset, and understanding of the game in ways I didn’t think were possible. Every training was intense and purposeful, and it helped me grow into a more confident and disciplined player. What stands out most is how much he genuinely cares, always giving honest feedback and keeping me focused even when things got tough. Because of their guidance, I’ve improved a lot and gained a stronger mentality, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without him-Xavier
Questions about private soccer training sessions
What ages and skill levels do you train?
BallMasters works with players of all ages and skill levels, from beginners learning the fundamentals to competitive club and advanced players looking to take their game to the next level. Training is personalized to meet each player where they are in their development.
What happens during a typical private training session?
Each session is built around the individual player’s needs and goals. Depending on the player, training may include ball mastery, first touch, dribbling, 1v1 skills, passing, shooting and finishing, speed and agility, position-specific work, and game-realistic situations.
Do you offer a discount for new players?
Yes! New BallMasters customers receive $15 off their first purchase, making it easier to get started and experience our training before committing to more sessions. Simply choose the coach and training option that works best for your player and the first-purchase offer will be available when booking.
What is the difference between training with Matthew and another BallMasters coach?
Matthew is the Founder and Head Coach of BallMasters Soccer Development and offers premium private training based on his years of playing and coaching experience. BallMasters also has a team of qualified coaches with competitive playing and coaching backgrounds. Every BallMasters coach follows our development-focused approach while bringing their own experience and specialties to each player.
Do you offer goalkeeper training?
Yes. We offer specialized goalkeeper training with our Goalkeeper Specialist, Coach Stephen. Sessions can focus on shot stopping, diving technique, footwork, positioning, 1v1 situations, distribution, reactions, and confidence in goal.
Where do you train?
BallMasters offers training at multiple locations throughout Orange County and surrounding areas, including Irvine, Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Anaheim, Newport Beach, Cerritos, Laguna Niguel, and Santa Ana. Available locations may vary depending on the coach and service selected.
Do you offer small-group or partner training?
Yes! Players can train individually, with a partner, or in a small group. Partner and small-group training are great options for players who want competitive drills, 1v1 work, and game-like situations while sharing the cost of training.
How often should my player train?
For most players, we recommend consistent weekly training combined with practice between sessions. The best frequency depends on the player’s age, current level, goals, team schedule, and how much independent work they are willing to do.
Will private soccer training actually help my child improve?
Private training gives players more individual attention and repetitions than they typically receive in a team environment. Our goal is to identify specific areas that need improvement, coach the details, and give players focused repetitions that can translate into games. Results will vary based on the player’s consistency, effort, and practice outside of sessions.
My child is a beginner. Is BallMasters a good fit?
Absolutely. Players do not need club or competitive experience to train with us. We work with beginners and focus on building strong fundamentals, confidence, coordination, and most importantly, a love for the game.
My child already plays competitive club soccer. Is private training still beneficial?
Yes. Team practices have to serve an entire roster, while private training allows us to focus specifically on your player. For competitive players, sessions can target technical weaknesses, position-specific skills, finishing, 1v1 ability, speed and agility, decision-making, and other areas that may not receive enough individual attention during team training.
Can you work on my player’s specific position?
Yes. Let us know your player’s position and goals before the session. Training can be adapted to focus on skills and situations relevant to defenders, midfielders, forwards, wingers, and goalkeepers.
What should my player bring to training?
Players should arrive ready to train with appropriate soccer footwear, athletic clothing, a water bottle, and a positive attitude. BallMasters provides the training equipment needed for the session.
Do parents need to stay during the lesson?
Yes. A parent or guardian must remain on site when the athlete is under 18.
What is your cancellation policy?
Lessons can be cancelled or rescheduled without charge up to 24 hours before the scheduled session. Cancellations made within 24 hours are charged 50% of the lesson price, and no-shows are charged the full session price.
What happens if it rains or the field becomes unavailable?
If weather or field conditions make training unsafe or prevent the session from taking place, we will communicate with you and work to reschedule the session. On rain days we will move the sessions indoors to qualified facility.
Do you offer soccer camps and clinics?
Yes! BallMasters hosts clinics, classes, and camps throughout the year covering areas such as shooting and finishing, ball mastery, technical development, and other specific skills. Upcoming opportunities can be found on our website.
Do you offer birthday parties or corporate events?
Yes! BallMasters can bring soccer to your event. We organize the equipment, soccer activities, skill challenges, games, and mini competitions to create a fun, structured soccer experience for birthdays and corporate events.
Can my player train with BallMasters outside of in-person lessons?
Yes! The BallMasters Digital Academy gives players structured training they can follow from anywhere. Members get access to courses, drills, homework, and training content designed to help players continue improving between in-person sessions.
Do you offer video or game-film analysis?
Yes. Players can submit game or training footage for a personalized Tape Review. We break down what the player is doing well, areas that need improvement, and specific coaching points and drills they can work on.
How do I know which BallMasters coach is right for my player?
Each coach has different playing experience, coaching strengths, specialties, locations, and availability. You can review our coaches on the website, or contact us with your player’s age, level, position, location, and goals and we can help you determine which coach may be a good fit.
How do I get started?
